HOLLYWOOD – Filipino-American Robert Lopez and his creative partner and wife Kristin Anderson Lopez are creating the music for the Disney animated movie on Jack and the Beanstalk called “Gigantic.”
The Oscar-winning team attended the Disney’s D23 Expo and talked about their ongoing work for the movie.
“We played one of the earliest new songs that we just started writing for the movie and Kristin sang it to a storyboard of reel and I think she did a great job,” Robert said.
Kristin added, “We brought to life our sort of our early demo process.”
“I think the crowd really liked it. I heard a lot of laughs and there was a lot of good energy and a lot of appreciation,” said Robert.
‘Gigantic’ will open in US cinemas in 2018.
“Finding Dory,” the sequel to the blockbuster hit “Finding Nemo,” was also presented at D23. It will mark the return of the forgetful but adorable fish named Dory, voiced by Ellen DeGeneres.
“I’ve been waiting for this for a long, long time,” she said.
Another upcoming animated film that got a lot of buzz after its D23 launch is “Moana,” featuring Disney’s first Polynesian princess.
It also stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who became emotional during the presentation when he proudly talked about his Samoan heritage.
Apart from all of its huge animation news, Disney also presented its live-action film slate.
Among the stars who attended are Captain America himself Chris Evans, as well as The Finest Hours’ Chris Pine, who talked about their respective projects.
