MANILA – “Misteryo din sa akin kung paano ako pumatok.”

These were the words of “Funny One” grand champion Ryan Rems Sarita after his unexpected rise to fame earned him a spot on “It’s Showtime” and a starring role for a sitcom alongside veteran comedian Bayani Agbayani.

The former English instructor and call center agent bested four other grand finalists on his way to winning P1 million. It earned him a legion of Filipino fans, as well as a popularity he admitted will take some time getting used to.

“Dati, sanay ako na isa o dalawang message lang sa Facebook per week. Ngayon ‘di na mabilang. May mga babae rin na nagme-message sa akin, mga nagsasabing ‘Sinira mo ang mundo ko, Ryan Rems. Sayong sayo na ako,” he quipped.
