MANILA – Charice received a standing ovation from concertgoers after she performed a hair-raising cover of “Bukas na Lang Kita Mamahalin” at the Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday.
Charice was among the guests of David Foster during his one-night-only concert in Manila.
Charice fearlessly belted out the high notes of song originally recorded by Lani Misalucha, garnering ecstatic reactions from the audience.
At the end of her performance, people got up on their feet to give Charice a prolonged applause, with Foster saying there’s no one like the Filipina singer.
The performance was uploaded on YouTube by user John Philip, which was then shared by Charice’s fans.
In an interview with “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” on Monday evening, Foster said he appreciates Charice’s effort in making her own music and writing her own songs.
Foster also said he supports Charice’s choice of music, adding that most of the young artists that he had worked with were able to find their own ways and styles.
“People like Charice, Celine, and Josh, and Buble, Bryan Adams, and all the other people I started out with, they get their own mind. And so they should. The good ones do,” Foster said.
Aside from Charice, other artists who also performed at Foster’s show were singers Natalie Cole, Ruben Studdard, Boyz II Men, and “The X Factor Philippines” finalist Mark Mabasa.
