MANILA – Former Kapamilya singer Rachelle Ann Go impressed theater fans with her rendition of “I Dreamed A Dream” during the West End Live event at the Trafalgar Square in London on Saturday.
“I Dreamed A Dream” is Go’s main solo number from the musical “Les Miserables,” where she plays the role of Fantine.
In a video uploaded on YouTube, Go can be seen performing before a huge crowd, which erupted into cheers when she effortlessly belted out the song’s high notes.
Over the years, Go has included “I Dreamed A Dream,” which is Fantine’s signature piece, in her repertoire along with other tunes from West End and Broadway favorites.
Go made her debut as Fantine in the West End run of “Les Miserables” at the Queen’s Theatre in London last Monday.
Go auditioned for the role of Fantine as early as February this year, while she was still playing Gigi in the West End revival of another Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil musical, “Miss Saigon.”
Fantine is Go’s latest high-profile role in a musical, following Gigi in “Miss Saigon,” and Ariel and Jane in the Philippine productions of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” and “Tarzan.”
